Description of Study
To assess the effectiveness and practical applicability of our model, we mapped the instruments used by the Netherlands Labour Authority (NLA) to investigate psychosocial safety in our framework. We then conducted individual interviews with inspectors of the NLA to assess the effectiveness and applicability of supervising procedures and perceptions from a regulatory perspective. Our initial findings show that the NLA has instruments in place that cover both the formal procedures and policies as well as the perceptions of employees within organizations. However, we also find that few inspectors of the NLA are equipped to supervise organizations on perceptions and behaviour-related insights. Based on this analysis, we offer evidence-based recommendations for optimizing these instruments and their implementation, such as training inspectors to apply a behavioural perspective in their supervision. In this presentation, we will outline the systemic model, share key findings from our research, and propose actionable steps for researchers, practitioners, and regulators.
